How to Layer like a Pro

When the temp starts to drop, it’s all about the layering. Here are 3 ways for wearing jackets, cardigans and scarves in ways that are sexy, not bulky.

  • Layering level – Beginner

For beginners, start by layering a bodycon sweater dress with an oversized poncho. It’s cozy, unfussy and completely chic. This look is all about playing with proportions and the combination of curve-hugging and oversized makes me a great outfit with visual interest.

  • Layering level – Intermediate

For those who’ve mastered layering level 1, let’s add on more! For chunky sweater coats, pair with lighter layers underneath. This fine knit turtleneck over a silk cami, paired with jacquard leggings shows off your shape. With its leather sleeves and pockets, this sweater coat is the perfect throw-on and go piece.

  • Layering level – Expert

Ready to take your layering to the next level? I’ve paired a tie-neck blouse with a marled knit sweater. Then, I’ve added a pretty lace-detail midi skirt. Over that, I’ve thrown on this amazing bouclé coat in a rich burgundy. The key to this look is to keep your layers in the same colour palette and to make sure they remain fairly close to the body.
