Wedding season is upon us! Today we are going to take a look at three different bridal style makeup applications. We are going to start with a semi natural base look and just add little tweaks to the base look to create two other more dramatic looks. If you plan on doing your own makeup for your wedding day, some of these tips and tricks may be just what you need!
Let’s take a look at our base bridal look I created, from this look I will create two more bridal looks the second being a bit more dramatic and the third the most dramatic. I am going to call this look Soft and Romantic.
When creating a bridal look we want to use top quality products, ensure we prep and prime the skin, and set the the completed look.
- Prep: Ensure skin is clean and exfoliated. Apply a moisturizer and eye cream.
- Prime: Apply a skin primer all over the face.
- Set: Setting spray or dust a translucent powder all over.
For the above look, I kept the drama of the eyes all on the top lid. Using a bold liquid liner, a soft smoky shadow and nice full lashes. I defined the brows with a brow powder to keep them still looking soft, and applied a soft petal pink on the lips. For my base, I used a full coverage foundation that is long wearing. Choose the base that’s right for you but here in my case I wanted a flawless finish. It terms of wear, I find a fuller coverage can tend to last a bit longer than something more sheer. Customize your look based on your skin needs!
For the second look, let’s call it All About The Eye’s, I just added some drama to the lower lash line. Here you can compare the two looks…
To step up the Soft and Romantic look, take a black soft pencil liner and smudge it along the lower lash line, keeping to the outer corners. Then, take a small smudging brush and pick up a bit of matte black shadow and buff out the liner. Not only will this soften and blend out the pencil liner but it will also set the creamy pencil and mattify it. Here is a closer look at the second look All Abou The Eye’s…
Last but not least we have the Deep and Sultry look. For this look I changed up the lip keeping everything else the same. Check it out…
When choosing a bold lip colour I decided to keep it in the same colour family as the eye shadow, maroon/brick/pink hues. The lip colour I used is a MAC lipstick called Flat Out Fabulous. I lined the lips with an Essence Lip Pencil called Soft Berry (lip liner was a tiny bit darker than the lipstick to add some dimension to the lips).
A bold lip is so in right now, and if you are aiming to add a statement to your bridal look, a bold lip is the way to go! I sometimes suggest to my brides to apply a bolder lip after the ceremony for the reception. It’s a great way to change up your look for the day and take the day look into night! Also, the softer colour for the ceremony keeps your lips super kissable for that “first kiss” then adds a pop of colour to dance the night away!
