Spring is here and the sun is out. What comes with warmer weather is a glisten to our skin. Sometimes it doesn’t happen naturally, so we have to fake it. That’s what makeup is for!!! Here are some steps to get that coveted JLO Glow.

STEP #1 – GLEAM  NOT  GLITTER

Often women confuse sparkle for sheen. They’re not the same thing. Stay away from sparkles or glitter for this look, search for products that use words like iridescent, satin and radiance. Products with those words have a soft sheen to them, that’s mainly visible when light reflects off them or when outside in daylight. That’s what you want.

MAC has the perfect product for this called Lustre Drops. It’s a highlighter. They come in 2 colors: “Rebel” a light silver highlighter for women with lighter complexions and “Sun Rush” a golden bronze highlighter for women with a darker complexions.

STEP #2 – KNOW WHERE TO PLACE ON YOUR FACE

The first thing you need to know before you start your high lighting, is where you want the sheen on your face. A common mistake women make, is to apply iridescent products all over their face, thinking that will give them radiance. All that does is make you appear greasy and shiny, not luminous. You want to focus your application along your cheekbones and up onto the temples.

STEP #3 – THE RULES FOR YOUR TOOLS

You can use a sponge, a foundation brush or your fingers to apply this product. PROS & CONS: Sponges are affordable & blend well, but soak up product, thus wasting it. Foundation brushes work wonders at blending product, but they cost more. Fingers are FREE, but take a bit more time blending out product.

The choice is yours! I use MAC’s #190 Foundation brush on clients, but my fingers on my own face.

STEP #4 – NOW YOU KNOW WHERE, PUT IT THERE

Time to apply! If you’re using sponges or your fingers, be sure to LIGHTLY stipple (which means dab) the product onto the skin. Start on the cheekbones, LIGHTLY tapping with your fingers and up onto the temples. Always make sure to blend out the edges so it fades into the skin. If using a foundation brush LIGHTLY sweep the product onto cheekbones and temples, then blend out the edges.

STEP #5 – FOR EXTRA GLIMMER, USE POWDER SHIMMER

Sometimes, you want to go full diva mode and get that JLO glow for night. Here’s how to pump up this look for special occasions ie: parties, night on the town or just because…Lol 🙂

LIGHTLY sweep MAC’s Iridescent Powder on top of the areas you’ve applied the Lustre Drops, this way the powder has something to adhere to. Use a smaller brush, guaranteeing the powder lands exactly where it’s suppose to and not all over. This look is certain to make you stand out in a crowd!

So, don’t be afraid to shine like the sun. Remember, once you’ve done it once or twice, you’ll be a master at the Glow on the Go!
