Spring hasn’t sprung yet, but why not be ready for when it does? This spring it’s all about the orange lip. Luckily, it’s not just one particular orange, this year there are various hues in the orange color family in fashion. From Mandarin Orange, to nectarine blood orange, to electric neon orange. You choose.
Step #1 – LIP BLOCK TO COLOR LOCK
Take your concealor/foundation or your face powder and dab it all over your lips. This is called “Blocking”. Whenever applying a light or bright color lipstick, you want to mask the natural color of your lips, so they won’t compromise the trueness of the bright orange.
Step #2 – LINE AND DEFINE
When you’re using a powerful color, it’s best to line your lips with a color similar to the lipstick, before you lay down the lipstick. This way you will have a perfectly shaped lip and the color you put on top won’t bleed. Tip: For longer wear lipstick, fill in your entire lip with the lip liner first.
Step #3 – APPLY A BIT AND THAT’S IT
Apply your lipstick, being careful to stay within the lines you’ve drawn. TIP: Common mistake women do is to rub their lips back and forth after applying. All that does is smear and move the color from where you just put it. Instead, gently press lips together, without rubbing them back and forth.
Step #4 – EASE WITH A TEASE
If you’re a bit cautious about this trend, try easing your way into it by doing a sheer orange gloss. Or buy the bright orange lipstick and mix it with your current favorite color, for a hint of orange. Remember the trend is various shades of orange. As long as you’re trying, you get points.
So, say good-bye to the winter blues and spring into action with orange. You can alter the trend to suit your personality, skin color and style. Don’t let this trend spring up on you, get a head of the game.
